Logic and the Philosophy of Language
Critical analysis of the tradition of the analytical philosophy of language, considering its historical origins and the development of its contemporary currents. Analysis of problems relating to the foundations of the philosophy of logic and mathematics.
Theory of Knowledge
Analysis of the principal questions related to the conditions of possibility, justification and the limits of knowledge.
History of Philosophy
Investigation of philosophical questions, both of a theoretical and practical nature, inserting them into the educational process with the aim of achieving an understanding of the conditions that created them and their respective solutions. Three moments in the History of Philosophy are prioritized by the researches of the teaching staff: Ancient Philosophy; Modern Philosophy; and Contemporary Philosophy.
Ethics and Political Philosophy
Reflection on ethics and politics, with emphasis on the viewpoint of contemporaneity. The subjects of ethics and political philosophy are studied, particularly those addressed by modern and contemporary philosophy.
Aesthetics
In a general sense, this line addresses the contemporary issues of aesthetics and the broader critical dimension of this reflection. It locates such questions in modern philosophical thought based on Kantian and Hegelian matrices.
Philosophy and the Environmental Question
A philosophical approach to questions relating to the global ecological crisis and the different modalities of man’s relationship with nature. Conceptions of nature / culture; space and nature; crisis and history; the relationship of humans with other life forms; ecological ethics; the role of science and technology; the controversy of climate change (belief and scepticism); reinventions of metaphysics.
